06/26/2002 "It's A Spanish-Speaking World" So I'm standing around for a few minutes this morning at work watching the Turkey vs. Brazil World Cup soccer finals in the commons area. There are four or five other guys there watching with me, commenting on players, previous games, and the really interesting fans in the crowd. However, the game is on one of the Spanish networks, and all the game commentary is in Spanish.
At one point the goalee makes a save and the Spanish commentator starts talking really excitedly. I remark that I wish the game were close-captioned so we could understand what he's saying. One of my co-workers turns and tells me what he said and that's when I realize that I'm the only non-Spanish speaker in the room. Hrm.

Babel fish does suck. Its a literal translator ..If you speak what it tells you , you will sound like a total idiot. trust me I speak spanish ..i know. ;) but sure helps with German homework.. not enough to copy paste just what it says though.
