"The Crowded Room Phenomenon"

Have you never 'felt' someone's eyes on you and turned around unerringly to the rght direction?

I think that this is such a common experience we don't realise we are doing it. During our Freshman year in college, some friends and I would sit in the back galleries of a lecture hall, and we would agree to stare at someone. I'd say 8o percent of the time that person would turn around and look at us.

I've also heard this called the cocktail party syndrome. Another good eample is how you can be in a crowded room, with maybe 100 people all talking loudly and music, and somone at the other side of the room can say your name at average volume, and you'll hear them.

Try it.

It's probably a take on esp, but when I wsa in training, we'd train our hearing in vacant snowfields.
