07/30/2002 "AOLSearch Now Uses Google" I've had a ton of idiots climbing all over my site in the past two weeks, mostly because AOLSearch has just switched their Search back-end to use Google. This means that whenever an AOL user searches with AOL's branded search engine they get the same results as if they were using Google.
This matters because: 1) I have pretty good Google rankings, and 2) AOL users have a percentage of idiots.
My weblog entry from May 27th was about how to cancel AOL and get three months of service for free. So now, whenever one of these clueless fools types "cancel AOL" into AOLSearch my site comes up fourth on the list, proudly proclaiming Cancel AOL to get 3 Months for Free. This invites loonies who send me messages through my contact form like this:
i need to cancel my aol asap plz hurry w/ it i can't offord to pay the bill right now.hurry! -Alex
Ugh. I wonder if I can get that page de-listed from Google...
