"I Thought I Was The Only One"

A leading cinema chain, Odeon, says more and more film fans are staying to watch the closing credits of films. To service this demand for credit watching, the chain has developed a guide explaining what some of the oddly-named jobs are like Best Boy, Gaffer, Foley Artist and others.

It makes perfect sense to me. My wife has always joked that I'd be happy to sit and watch something called The Credit Channel, a cable channel that shows nothing but film credits 24 hours a day.

For me, movies are my baseball. The Boomers get all nostalgic over the Dodgers of the 60s and can rattle off stats for Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale until they're blue in the face. I, on the other hand, became disillusioned with the sport after the players strike during the year when the Kansas City Royals were doing really well and looked like they could go all the way. My love of the game was spurned so I turned to a new lover: movies. The movie credits are like my player stats - so-and-so was a cinematographer in this movie before they directed that horrible movie.

I need a hobby.
